Buenos Aires Digital Literacy Push Distinguishes Its Global Tech Ecosystem
Free platforms and targeted workshops for teachers and students strengthen the city's position as Latin America's most mature tech hub.
How we reported this

The City Government of Buenos Aires launched the free '+ Alfabetización' platform that delivers four pedagogical capsules to first- and second-grade teachers and has drawn more than 3,000 enrollees.
The effort arrives as Buenos Aires accounts for 85 to 90 percent of Argentina's tech hub activity and hosts more than 3,000 startups. Officials link the literacy tools directly to the need for a workforce ready for roles in FinTech, SaaS and AgriTech firms clustered in the city.
Platforms open to all without registration
The Dirección General de Educación Digital released primary-school notebooks on virtual environments and online search guidance. Teachers and students can also reach the Biblioteca Digital and the Contenedor Escolar Digital, two city platforms that supply digital resources in education, mathematics and language with no login required.
These open-access sites sit alongside the national Aprender Conectados program, which supplies tablets, educational robots and more than 1,200 specific contents for early-childhood centers. The city-run taller Alfabetización Digital extends the same focus to adult and adolescent primary schools under the Plan Integral de Educación Digital.
Numbers that set the city apart
Buenos Aires ranks as Argentina's top startup city and places 77th worldwide on the StartupBlink index, with more than 1,200 tech companies and 115,000 software developers. The same ecosystem produced 12 national unicorns and drew the largest Latin American venture round of the past three years when Ualá raised $300 million in 2024.
Palermo Valley remains the physical center of this activity, while government-backed sites such as Distrito Tecnológico and AreaTres provide the coworking and incubation space that keep new firms inside city limits. The literacy programs supply the entry-level digital skills that feed this concentration of engineering centers and venture activity.
Schools and teachers can register for the '+ Alfabetización' capsules or open the Biblioteca Digital and Contenedor Escolar Digital directly through the listed city portals to begin using the materials immediately.
