Free Running Groups and Weekly Races Launch Buenos Aires Fitness
Free training sessions, weekly races and major events provide clear entry points for new and returning participants.
How we reported this
Buenos Aires hosts the Maratón de Buenos Aires in October with more than 12,000 participants covering 42 kilometres and the Media Maratón in September with more than 15,000 participants covering 21 kilometres.
Starting with running teams
The city maintains the highest density of running teams in South America. Groups including Nike Run Club and Adidas Runners run free weekly training sessions in Palermo and other parks. New participants can join these sessions directly to follow coached routes and meet other runners without paying fees.
Entering Sunday races
Sunday races form a local tradition. Nearly every Sunday includes a 5K, 10K or 21K event that starts at the Rosedal, Parque Centenario or Costanera Sur. Runners register on site or through listed platforms and choose distances that match their current fitness level.
Registering for upcoming events
Two dated events appear on current calendars. The Maratón de La Paternal 2026 takes place on September 27 at Estadio Diego Armando Maradona. The UPCN BA Corre offers 10K and 3K distances on August 30. Both events accept entries through standard registration channels used for city races.
Accessing summer outdoor classes
During summer months the GCBA organises free outdoor classes in yoga, spinning and running at parks including Tres de Febrero and Rivadavia. CrossFit competitions also occur regularly in Palermo. These sessions require no advance payment and allow beginners to test different activities in public spaces.
Participants should check listed event platforms for exact start times and any required forms. Arriving early at park meeting points and wearing standard running kit covers most practical needs. Regular attendance at the free sessions builds the base needed for longer races.
