Electricity Extension and Storm Aftermath

National authorities extended the electrical emergency through a DNU that runs until December 2027 and covers the Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires. The measure maintains regulatory flexibility for supply management in the capital region and surrounding areas. A storm that struck the metropolitan zone in the early hours left more than 300,000 users without service, with over 100,000 still affected according to utility reports.

These developments occur alongside measured inflation data for the city. Prices rose 1.8 percent in June, bringing the semester total to 16 percent. Officials have linked ongoing cost pressures to the need for continued infrastructure oversight.

Homelessness Data and City Programs

Official records show the homeless population in the capital grew 57 percent over the past two years. City statements have tied this trend to broader service adjustments, including the cleaning revisions already under way. Parallel city programs continue to offer more than 200 free physical activities across 13 of 15 communes, with football, yoga and swimming sessions operating in 27 plazas and parks.

Over 17,800 adolescents up to age 16 take part in sports initiatives in vulnerable neighborhoods and Barrio 31. Football remains the dominant activity, supported by the city’s concentration of 21 clubs that include Boca Juniors, River Plate, San Lorenzo and Vélez Sarsfield.
